...months, that is. I wonder how many times I will say, boy does time fly!? Because it seems to be soaring right now. I often find myself hovering in the middle of desperately wanting time to slow down so I can saturate myself with today-ness, and desperately wanting time to pick up the pace so that I can revel in a solid 8 hours of sleep, or enjoy the absence of trying to manhandle a poop filled diaper from my infant's clutches. Alas I can only be right here, right now, typing this post while Miss Veda Pearl catches some afternoon shut eye. And honestly, isn't that better anyhow?
So where are we with things these days? Let's see. Veda continues to jabber away. Her latest expressions include deedle deedle, thurp lurp, latha, and many other random jumbling of syllables. She does point at Clark and say dada quite regularly, and she without a doubt knows what a dog is, and can give saying it a good go (with the /g/ often getting lost in translation). Yes, she does say mama, but it still happens most often when she's in distress. Symbolic, no? She continues to explore every inch of the house a la crabbing, and more recently figured out that using furniture to pull herself up onto her knees (and feet once so far!) provides a whole new level of stuff with which she can toss onto the floor.
My days of picking up toys, washing dishes, and preparing food seem to run together lately. It can be difficult to tell where one day ends and the other begins. Punctuated by play groups and music class, there is some hint of delineation, but often I find myself not completely sure what day it is. There are moments I have to remind myself to enjoy this pinnacle of domesticity, as our world will change when I go back to work in the Fall. So I try to find some deep satisfaction in a clean kitchen, or the organic food prepared for Veda's consumption. On second thought, maybe just satisfaction... striving for depth might be asking a little too much of myself at the moment.
There is so much left to write about; a great visit to Grandma & Grandpa's house in Iowa, Veda's love of spinach and happily stuffing anything we give her into her mouth, the relationship between Kala-girl and the baby-girl. However, I'm all t0o aware that I'm now on borrowed time, so instead I will post a video.
