Rocky Mountain High

All is quiet at the moment, which leaves me a few precious moments to lazily sit on the couch, sip my second cup of half-caff and update the blog. I've neglected to post our pictures of the Colorado trip we took a few weeks ago. Not a purposeful omission - just too tired, too lazy, or too busy. The cliff notes version of our trip is... It was great! We had a really great time from start to finish.

The flight from Madison to Denver was none too challenging. We began the trip with a lovely couple of days in Brighton with Julia and the kids, full of bbqing, tostada eating, and lazily swinging on the porch.

During our transfer to the Sayles B&B, we made a much too quick stop in Boulder to see friends Ray & Tara and meet their 4 month old, Liam. As well as Mike & Vyga and their 7 month old, Simona. 2010 was met with an explosion of baby making among our Boulder friends, and it was fantastic, and kinda weird, to see the fruit of our labors. We took some group pics with one of Ray's fancy cams, and I'm looking forward to seeing what came of the session. One of the casualties of traveling with baby has been leaving my DSLR at home. Trying to capture our trips with a point and shoot is really quite frustrating and limiting. Maybe one day I'll figure out how to travel with all the baby accoutrement while guarding the physical safety of my Canon.

We landed in Kittredge to enjoy some of Colorado's best weather. Veda seemed to love being traded from aunt to aunt, and her mama very much enjoyed having moments to curl up on the couch to read or slowly sip a beer without repeated thieving attempts by a certain little someone. The Sayles girls played the older cousins role with great aptitude, and all the cousins had great fun sharing their popsicles with Veda (see the photos taken by Addison, here). Marina, Ryan, and Audra B. drove up for a visit, of course bringing delicious dishes with them.

Of course we had the obligatory (because it's awesome!) family hike in O'Fallon Park. Veda rode strapped to my back in the ergo and we unleashed the other children so they could scare away any lingering bears.

We were all a little sad to leave on Monday morning. Boo.

General tomfoolery.
